YOUR KILLER IS…

“Flexible” Deadlines

TAKE QUIZ AGAIN

You keep setting target dates and giving yourself a very firm talking to... By the end of this week, you'll write 5,000 words!

Then the end of the week comes and goes... What happened? Where are the words?

If you're setting goals for yourself and missing them, week after week…

… you need to tap into the magical power of Public Shame.

Get an accountability buddy!

Action Plan

  1. Pick an Accountability Buddy. This should be another creative who also wants to improve their productivity and make more stuff!

  2. Schedule a weekly check-in with your Buddy. At each meeting, set a goal for the coming week, and report your progress on the previous week's goal.

  3. For your first goal, pick something easily done. This will help you build confidence and make that first meeting more enjoyable.

If it’s not fun, it won’t help.

If you try these accountability meetings for a few months, and they end up making you more depressed, that's okay. It's not a one-size-fits-all solution!

There are other ways to encourage yourself to stick to deadlines. Here are some alternatives if the Accountability Buddy doesn't work for you:

  • Take a class

  • Join a creator's group that meets regularly

  • Post your goals on social media and shout your accomplishments into the internet void

All of these will have similar helpful effects as an Accountability Buddy.
