YOUR KILLER IS…
Impossible Standards
We need to throw out the idea of being "good". Nobody agrees on what it means.
Is it the stuff that sells? Is it the stuff that's studied in colleges in 300 years? Is it my favorites? (Yes, it is my favorites.)
"Good" doesn't mean anything.
If you're not creating what you like, and instead are chasing the abstract "good," you won't make much of anything at all.
Action Plan
Stop asking, “Is this good?” Instead, ask yourself: if someone else made this, would I enjoy it?
Every day for a month, create a small work that no one will ever see. It’s just for you.
At the end of the month... pick your favorite and share it with a friend!
Focus on JOY!
Spend your time trying to bring joy or some target emotion to your audience, not stressing over abstract quality.
